The 14th Annual Cauliflower Festival will be held on Saturday, September 23 from 10 until 4 in the Village Park, Margaretville.
Celebrating the agricultural history of the area where cauliflower was grown as a cash crop for the dairy farmers in the region visitors come to enjoy a Tractor Parade that will drive along Main Street into the Festival when the Catskill Mountain News will award the Best of Show Trophy to one of the farmers. This year a special treat for the youngsters will be a visit from Tractor Mac a very popular storybook character. Bushels of cauliflower sell out early. So get in line one to take home.
Hay rides, music, historical exhibits and displays of farm equipment used in growing cauliflower will be featured at the Historical Society of the Town of Middletown tent. Pure Catskills members will fill their tent with local foods, and food products, hand spun yarns and yarn products and maple syrup. Artists and craft vendors will offer hand made and unique items along with many additional vendors. This festival is about food so there will be many choices for eating tasty dishes. It is the highlight of the event: home made ice cream sodas, spicy Mexican dishes, chichken bbq, pulled pork, delicious cauliflower soup and fried cauliflower. Freshly made lemonade and kettle corn, and tasty hot dogs and pizza are available all day long.
This event is sponsored by the Village of Margaretville as its Signature Event and coordinated by the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce.
